201 Subterfuge Questions

The Thrill of Persuasion: Using Subterfuge Questions to Create Positive Results

My name is Jake Lewis and I thrive on the rush of new experiences—my heart always racing towards the next thrill. Today, I tend to get my excitement from the thrill of being a master manipulator. Here I’ll share how I used the power of Subterfuge and leading questions to play a situation like a fiddle.

Breaking Down the Situation of Subterfuge

The stakes are high; I need my colleagues to approve a risky project, one that promises immense rewards but carries significant risks. Sitting at the head of the conference table, I’m ready to execute my plan, armed with techniques from the Manipulation Game.

I start with Tom, the adventurous spirit of the group. I suspect he might be a fellow Enthusiast like me, so I give him a quick Enneagram personality quiz.

“Tom, do you often find yourself seeking excitement and new experiences?” My voice is casual, almost curious.

Tom’s eyes light up. “Absolutely. I love a good challenge.”

I lean in slightly, adding the quintessential subterfuge follow-up: “And why?”

Tom hesitates, then replies, “Because life is too short to play it safe. The thrill of conquering something new is unbeatable.”

The First Trap is Set

Perfect. I can use this. “That’s exactly why I think our new project is perfect for you. It’s challenging but the rewards are unmatched. Imagine the thrill of seeing it succeed.”

Next, I turn my attention to Sarah. She always meticulously prepares for every task, so I suspect she might be something of a perfectionist, with a slightly pessimistic lean. There’s only one way to find out.

“Sarah, how do you prepare for important events?”

She smiles, “I plan every detail. It’s crucial to be ready for any surprises.”

“And why?” I ask, deepening my inquiry.

“Because being prepared means I’m in control. I can handle anything that comes my way.”

“Exactly, Sarah. This idea requires your level of detail and preparedness. Your skills are key for ensuring everything runs smoothly.”

The room starts to buzz with interest—I already know Sarah is putty in my hand.

The Satisfaction of Playing the Game

By weaving these subterfuge questions seamlessly into the conversation, I guided my colleagues towards my desired outcome without them realizing it. The Manipulation Game has taught me how to understand their motivations and align their interests with mine. The thrill of manipulating the situation to my advantage is intoxicating, while I also thrive off the success of my wild ideas.

As I leave the conference room, I can’t help but smile. The thrill of persuasion, the subtle art of mastering manipulation—it’s a game I’ve mastered with the help of basic subterfuge. And one that continues to fuel my insatiable appetite for new experiences.
